Cookie Policy

Last updated: 24 September 2026

This policy explains which cookies and browser records are used on the Turkish Beyazay Association website, what they do, and how you can manage them.

Cookies are small text files saved to your browser by the websites you visit. They may be used to keep a site working properly, to remember your preferences, or to collect usage statistics.

  • Session cookie (__beyazay_session): created only for users who sign in to the management panel or the volunteer area, and expires after five days at the latest. It is not created for visitors who only browse the site.
  • Browser local storage (beyazay-a11y, beyazay-a11y-pos, beyazay-a11y-side): stores the text size, dark theme, motion and similar preferences you set in the accessibility menu, and the position you move the accessibility button to. These records stay on your own device and are never sent to the association.
  • Measurement preference cookie (beyazay-analytics-optout): created only if you use the button below to stay out of usage measurement, and used for nothing other than remembering that choice. Because it is created at your own request, it counts as an essential record.
  • Browser session storage (beyazay-last-archive): used only on the volunteer board to hold a temporary marker so that you can undo the last task you archived; it is deleted when you close the tab.

We do not use cookies for advertising or profiling.

We measure how often each page is visited, but nothing — no cookie or similar record — is written to your device for it. Instead of being stored on your device, the visitor number is recomputed on our server each time a request arrives. The secret value behind that computation is generated at random each day and never recorded anywhere, so the number changes the next day and numbers from earlier days cannot be linked to a person — not even by the association.

Measurement data is not sent from your browser directly to a third party: the signal reaches our own server, which forwards it to Google Analytics 4. Google receives only this irreversible number together with the address (without the query string), title and language of the page you viewed; your IP address and your device and browser information are not sent.

Because the measurement writes nothing to your device, it rests not on your explicit consent but on our legitimate interest under Article 5(2)(f) of the KVKK. You can still opt out at any time; the section below explains how.

Embedded content such as Google Maps on the contact page and YouTube in the gallery may cause cookies to be set by those providers. Such cookies are governed by the privacy and cookie policies of the relevant provider and are outside the association's control.

The Google reCAPTCHA service used to protect our forms against automated submissions may likewise store its own records in your browser (such as the _GRECAPTCHA cookie on the google.com domain). These records are created only once you touch a field in a form; they are not created for a visitor who merely reads the page. They are used for security purposes; Google states that they are not used for personalised advertising.

You can delete or block cookies, or ask to be warned when a cookie is set, from your browser settings. To clear your accessibility preferences, use the “Reset settings” button in the accessibility menu. Blocking essential records may prevent some functions, such as signing in to the management panel, from working.

To stay out of usage measurement, use the “Stop including me” button at the end of this page. Your choice applies only to the browser you are using; you will need to repeat it in another browser or on another device.

If the “Global Privacy Control” (Sec-GPC) setting is enabled in your browser, measurement is skipped automatically on our server; you need do nothing further.

For questions about our use of cookies you can reach us at beyazay@beyazay.org.tr.

Usage measurement

We measure how often each page is visited. Nothing is stored on your device for this, and your IP address is not sent to any third party. If you would rather stay out of it, use the button below; your choice applies to this browser only.
